Lactation Consulting Services
Serving the Sea to Sky Corridor
Anna Turyk
RM, IBCLC, BScN
Born and raised on the West Coast and a resident of Squamish I am thrilled to be offering Lactation Consulting services in the Sea to Sky corridor.
I am an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), a Registered Midwife and a former Registered Nurse with experience working with women and babies over the past 16 years. I graduated from nursing school in 2008 and began my career at BC Children’s Hospital in the Oncology unit. Although I loved the work at BC Children’s Hospital, I wanted to be in the mountains. I moved to Squamish and worked as a public health nurse here in the Sea to Sky corridor. I spent two summers traveling to Northern BC and worked with the First Nations communities in Dease Lake and Old Masset. While working as a public health nurse I specialized in First Nations health, sexual health education and newborn and maternal health. It became clear that I had a passion for maternal and infant health and this guided me to the wonderful world of midwifery. Upon completion of my Bachelor of Midwifery at the University of British Columbia in 2015, I joined Roots Community Midwives and worked alongside the lovely midwives who guided me through the beginning of the most amazing journey.

What our clients are saying:
“We contacted Anna when our baby was about a month old and his breastfeeding had gone from okay to very bad. He would scream and thrash at the breast, and latch and unlatch, and he even stopped gaining weight. We saw doctors, public health nurses, chiropractors, craniosacral therapists and more, but nothing was the silver bullet and we felt very lost and on our own. Anna was so immensely helpful during this incredibly stressful time. She was SO compassionate, and she helped us navigate things with the various other professionals and helped us make decisions in light of conflicting advice we had received.”
“We hired Anna for Lactation Support after the birth of our first child. I was struggling with breastfeeding and as a result our daughter was not gaining weight and the feeding experience was stressful and unpleasant. Anna helped us to create a plan that prioritized my daughters’ needs while also keeping my parenting goals, and mental health at the forefront. She was professional, knowledgeable, and was able to create an environment where I felt safe to learn how to work with my daughter and my body. Anna was responsive, available and attentive. I would highly recommend her to any new parent!”
